Richard Sturdevant, M.Photog., M.Artist.Cr.
Richard Sturdevant is a visionary and a leader in photographic artistry and creative composites, taking his work to new heights. In a past career, Richard was an award-winning artist and art instructor, but upon entering the photographic industry, he's never turned back. Today, he combines his passion for painting with photography and is the owner of Sturdevant Studio, a thriving portrait business in Garland Texas, specializing in fine art composites, seniors, families, wedding, and commercial photography.
It's not only clients that know and love Richard. His award winning work, style and techniques have earned him high praise and numerous awards within the industry. His images have been on the cover of numerous publications like Professional Photographer and Rangefinder. In the world of PPA, he has dominated in the Southwest, Texas and Dallas regions, and achieved International Gold, International Platinum and double Platinum Photographer at the Photographic Open and Electronic Imaging (2010). His impressive track record in PPA print competition resulted in 17 prints earning a perfect 100-point score on the state, regional and district levels, and he made history at the SWPPA district competition in 2010 for the highest print case ever scored. Richard is also the only photographer in PPA History to go Double Diamond three times in 2012, 2013 and 2015. He’s received numerous Kodak Gallery and Fuji Masterpiece awards, and the list goes on.
One of Richard's most lasting legacies has been his contributions to photographic education. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others in the industry and has launched his own brand of educational materials to photographers, graphic designers, and artists nationwide. His goal is that these materials, known as the "Sturdavinci Art Tools", will help fellow professionals, as well as aspiring students, achieve their creative potentials and improve their workflow. Turning the ordinary into the extraordinary is Richard's goal in his own photographic journey and as a platform for his workshops.
