Film - What’s Old is New Again
Track(s): 1/2 Day Pre-Conference Training: Saturday, January 16, Inspiration, Portrait, Technique
Half-day Pre Con: $99
This program covers how Pete Rezac has been steadily reintroducing film into his everyday work flow over the past few years. Many photographers will tell you that the experience with portraitstudio is one of the main ways to separate yourself from the competition. Pete too believes in thatschool of thought, and working with the 4x5 and soon 8x10 view cameras provide that uniqueexperience along with the various medium format cameras he uses to create his work as well. “Imagine having your picture created with the same camera that once photographed MarilynMonroe?” Now that’s an experience and a story to think about.
Pete will discuss the various equipment he used to create his film based images from the types ofcameras (that can still be had for very little investment) to how he process' his film at home and then scan for retouching and sending to the lab for printing.
Pete will answer the questions about cost, blinks, how to establish exposure, and all questions regardingsilver based photography. He will also explain how working with film has made him a better photographer, show results of competition images that were shot on film and ultimately landed in the PPA LoanCollection.
The key takeaways from this class include:
1. A entirely different experience for the client and entirely different experience as a photographer.
2. A refreshing way to work and gain back valuable time - film truly is the cure to overshooting
3. It’s easier to do than you might think and a market that’s interested in something unique like photography crafted on film
4. It may not be for everyone, but if it’s for you can can be very good for you!
