Barbara Breitsameter is a long-time dog photographer with more than 16 years experience in the Chicago area. She has earned her CPP, Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman from PPA. Her speciality and passion is dog portraiture and dog conceptual art. Barbara is known for her creative, storytelling imagery with her dry humor thrown in. She is noted for her dynamic lighting in the studio and on location creating her signature Big-Sky portraits. She always focuses on connecting with her subject and capturing over-the-top expressive dog portraits and conceptual art.
January 2017 Barbara was awarded the PPA Grand Imaging Award - the most prestigious award to receive from PPA. She was chosen to represent the United States as one of four for Team USA in the World Photographic Cup Silver Medalist and placed 4th in the Commercial Category for “Send in the Clowns”. Barbara has also been a Diamond Photographer of the Year, two time Platinum medalist and one time Gold medalist.
November 2017 Barbara was forced into retirement due to her progressing 17 year battle with Parkinson's disease. June 2018 that all changed when Barbara underwent Deep Brain Stimulation surgery while awake. She's BACK - thrilled to be working as a dog photographer again, speaking and teaching one-on-one mentorships.
